Courtney Rothenberg | 49er Graduate | UNC Charlotte| Charlotte, NC

What degree(s) are you earning? What do you plan on doing after graduation?

I have earned a major in Marketing Analytics and a minor is American Studies. After graduation, I will continue my search for my dream job in the event planning field.

What organizations were you involved in?

While in college I was involved in the Delta Zeta Sorority, and was the Merchandise Chair for a year and a half. This lead me to work for the company that I was using called University Tees and I have loved every minutes of it.

Favorite spot on campus and why?

My favorite spot on campus is probably Bissell House. I never spent too much time on campus, and only really went to one building during my last two years. However, when I got my internship on campus I started spending a lot of time throwing events at Bissell House. The whole house is beautiful, inside and out. I loved decorating the house, especially for fall and winter. I feel really special there, being inside the Chancellor's house, and have loved getting to know him, his wife, and all of the faculty and staff that attend our events.

What has been your favorite memory at UNC Charlotte?

My favorite memory from my college years was definitely when I studied abroad. I was able to travel to Germany and Poland. We studied the Holocaust, and while that may sounds really sad, it was incredible eye opening and truly the opportunity of a lifetime. I will never forget the things I saw or the memories made from that trip. That trip sparked my love for traveling abroad and I returned to Germany again for winter break to visit a friend. We got to visit multiple cities in Germany as well as Paris and Amsterdam.

Most valuable lesson learned during your college career?

Pain is temporary. College has its ups and down. Maybe its just me, but I felt like I had some really rough times in college. At one point I even wanted to quit. College is hard, there is no way around it. Its stressful too, the combination of classes, friends, family, relationships, and just simply trying to figure out what your next step in life will be can really take a toll on you. However, I have learned that the sadness, anger, frustrations, and pain is temporary. On top of that, it leads to happiness in the end.

Courtney, you took confetti bombs to a whole new level! Although the wind didn't cooperate with us, I had so much fun during your portrait session! You have a presence about you that is warm and inviting. You put your heart 100% into anything you do, so I just know that you will find the perfect fit! Maybe we can work together one day in event planning ;) I was a joy getting to know you through Delta Zeta!
