Amanda Nicholson | 49er Graduate | UNC Charlotte | Charlotte, NC
What degree(s) are you earning? What do you plan on doing after graduation?
I am earning a BS in Psychology with a double minor in Public Health and Women & Gender Studies. After graduation I will be earning my doctorate in School-Clinical Child Psychology at Pace University in Manhattan. I hope to become a licensed psychologist specializing in family therapy and eating disorder treatment.
What organizations were you involved in?
I was involved in Psi Chi, Order of Omega, and Sigma Kappa Sorority! I served as president of Sigma Kappa in 2017 as well.
Favorite spot on campus and why?
My favorite spot on campus would have to be my sorority house. I have had so many amazing memories there over my time in college and lived there for 3 out of my 4 years at UNC Charlotte. Spending time with my sisters and having 28 people to come home to was certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity!
What has been your favorite memory at UNC Charlotte?
When I look back, rather than one specific memory, I would have to say that watching the way Charlotte has grown over the past four years has been really amazing to watch. Since I was a freshman there have been so many new buildings, professors, courses, and just even more and more amazing students every year.
Most valuable lesson learned during your college career?
The most valuable lessons I learned during my college career came from serving as president of Sigma Kappa Sorority. I learned the true meaning of being a leader in your community and it taught me so much about myself and what my values were. Not to mention it forced me to get over my fear of public speaking! I will forever be grateful to my sisters who elected me because I would not be where I am today without their support and guidance.
Amanda, your cap says it all. It is evident that you have a big heart and big dreams. You have a grace, poise and confidence about you that is sure to take you places! I had so much fun at the football stadium with you! Good luck with everything your future holds and congrats on making it to the finish line!!
