Katelyn Thomas | 49er Graduate | UNC Charlotte | Charlotte, NC

What degree(s) are you earning? What do you plan on doing after graduation?

I will be earning a Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree. Following graduation, I plan on re-enrolling at UNC Charlotte to get my Masters of Science in Management degree to work in healthcare administration.

What organizations were you involved in?

During my time in college I was involved in hall council, Sigma Kappa Sorority, Order of Omega, Public Health Association, and Humans for Justice. I also served on the Disability Advisory Board for Office of Disability Services for UNC Charlotte.

Favorite spot on campus and why?

My favorite spot on campus would have to be the gardens, because they gave a nice break from reality and a spot to relax during times of stress.

What has been your favorite memory at UNC Charlotte?

My favorite memory in college would have to be celebrating with my fellow classmates following the competition of the public health program. Having that time to reminiscing over our memories that were made during the past two years and cheering to the fact that we did it was a feeling like no other! It goes to show that you really do find your second family in college.

Most valuable lesson learned during your college career?

My most valuable lesson learned during my college career has been to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Learn to grow beyond what you thought possible and take chances. You will be surprised to find how much you are capable of.
